8MM and HI8

This is a very common format which is used in consumer camcorders. This tape comes in three formats, all of which we can transfer to DVD: 8MM, Hi8, and Digital8.

 

VHS-C

VHS-C or Compact is a format that was used in consumer-grade camcorders. VHS-C tapes can be expanded using a mechanical adapter, which allows them to be played like full-sized VHS tapes in a VCR.

 

VHS or S-VHS

VHS became popular in the late 1970's. VHS  tapes are probably the most commonly used video format.

 

Mini DV

The MiniDV format is one of the most commonly used formats for camcorders. Leading manufacturers like Sony, Panasonic, JVC, Sharp, Canon, and many others offer MiniDV camcorders. They are commonly used for both personal and semiprofessional-quality video

 

Betamax

The Betamax format was a great format but couldn't win over VHS . Leading manufacturer lwas Sony.
